Sacrament Airport
So we went to Sacramento to pick up Joe's friend, Toan, at the airport. We ended up staying at an expensive KOA the night before though. Anyway, turned out Toan had a layover in Las Vegas where his flight ended up being cancelled. He had to fly to Pheonix that night then to Sacramento. We were parked in an economy lot for the day/night and Toan found us around 9pm (he was supposed to get there around 1pm). So, we stayed in the parking lot that night and left for Yosemite the next morning.

The Redwoods
There are some huge trees out here! The forests are very neat. We stayed in Jedediah State Park campground for the first night, but no internet (go figure) so we did a little hiking the next morning then took off. We found a junky RV park in Crescent City that we stayed at the next night. That day though we drove part way towards Stout Grove (it's a once lane, windy road between Redwoods, so they don't like RV's up there). We parked the RV off the road and waited in the rain hoping someone would give us a ride up there. It was a 4 mile walk, so we figured get a ride up there and walk back. A park ranger gave us a ride there, we walked around and saw some neat trees then started down the road. A couple that we saw on the path drove up behind us and gave us a ride back to the RV. They were from Wisconsin and actually drove out this direction to drop off stuff for their son that moved out to Portland.
The next day we hit a few more trails and even saw an elk. Last night we stayed in another kinda junky RV park. We are working our way to Sacramento in order to pick up Joe's friend, Toan, from the airport. He arrives on Saturday. We are currently sitting in a day use area of Humboldt State Park. Very pretty area. We'll try and get some photos up soon. I just haven't gotten any of them on my computer yet.

Crater Lake
We drove up to Crater Lake yesterday. It was gorgeous. A beautiful day also. We went for a short hike up to the tallest point on the rim and drove around half the rim. We started from the north and were leaving to the south, so instead of driving around one and a half times, we just picked a way that looked more interesting.
On the north side of the lake was a pumice desert. That was neat. Barely any trees and pumice all over. We stopped a bunch of places along the drive and then left the national park by early afternoon. We are now in Klamath Falls where we are staying for a few days to get some serious work done.

Joe picking up a big rock! (yes, it is pumice.. .)

Joe and I in front of Crater Lake.

Joe looking at the lake. I think he got a panoramic with his camera... If it turned out I'll put it on the site.

Wizard Island which is in Crater Lake.

Diamond Lake
Well, we drove quite a bit yesterday and made it to Diamond Lake, which is just north of Crater Lake. We stayed at an RV park because they have internet. Our plan is to head into the park today and see what it's like and whether we have internet there. Then decide if we're just going to spend the day there or a couple days.
This is quite a pretty area. The drive was very nice. We are now at an elevation of about 5000ft and still have to go up to 7000ft to get to Crater Lake.

Florence in the Morning
Well, Joe decided it would be best to get the oil change and check out our issue when we go uphill (sounds like it's going to die, so he has to put it into second and go about 25mph). So, while Joe found an auto guy that looked at the engine I worked on fixing some problems in the game.
Turns out, our going uphill problem was a plugged up fuel filter, so we got that changed. Hopefully that will help us out. We'll find out soon being we're heading back into the mountains today.
Then, Joe decided we should really get the oil changed, so we went to another place not too far away and got the oil changed, our fluids all topped off and even all the zurts greased up. Both of these stops ended up being relatively cheap and the guys were really nice.
Then we stopped and filled up on propane and there was a kayak shop less than a block away. We've been needing kayak paddles for our inflatable boat. All we've had is one canoe paddle. They had some decent, not too expensive, kayak paddles. So we bought two of those.
Yay for a productive morning. :)
We are now on our way to Crater Lake National Park.
