Zoe and Wash
We got new kittens on Sat. morning! Mom and Papa stopped at the place we had seen them being given away on Friday (we were heading into town so didn't get one then). Mom couldn't decide between two of them, so asked if we just wanted 2. We finally decided that would probably be fun for the two of them also. So, they would have each other to play with. Lucy is not impressed. Curly gets along with them fine.

Then, yesterday, We decided since some of the mushrooms are so bug, it would be really funny to see the kittens next to them. So, we found the mushrooms and set them down. They did fine for a while and I got some cute pictures, but then Wash decided to jump at it and eat it!! Three hours later she was super wobbly. Scared me enough that I called the emergency vet and decided to take her in. On the way I identified the mushroom (I have a book) and she vomited, and started looking better. So, we just went to Mom and Papa's. She is all better now. Needless to say, she will not be going near anymore mushrooms again.

Gorgeous Work Day
Yesterday we did a bunch of work outside. I finally finished painting the milk shed. Well, most of it. The trim still needs one coat, then it's completely done. Joe and Mary planted trees near the milk shed in a part of the field that we feel would be better forested. While we were working, Curly decided to climb the tree next to us. The next morning, Lucy climbed the large spruce next to the house. I got so many pictures of that... It was pretty hard to choose which one to post. :)

Lucy in the tree. I chose this one mostly because it's kinda funny looking. :)

Another Fun Filled Weeked
Joe's friend, Toan, drove up from the Cities on Friday and stayed overnight. Joe put him to work hauling some firewood and we watched a movie. Nothing too exciting but it was fun to have the company. On his way home on Sat. Toan took a crazy route through Wisconsin instead of heading back to Superior then getting on I-35. He did make it home, he just decided to take the scenic route. :)
On Sunday evening, Becky came by with Kaiya. Both are looking great. I made sure to get some pics of them.

She likes her belly. She's probably going to be an early crawler. :D

Fun Last Weekend
So, on Saturday, Mom, Papa and Laura came up to visit. Laura slept on the love sak for probably half the visit.. Go figure. ;) We took a walk around the property on the trail. Then we decided to go to Iron River for a pizza dinner and to get graham crackers and hershey's for s'mores. We made a fire in a little fire pit and had s'mores before they headed off.

Then, Erin and Jon happened to be in town so they stopped by to see us also! We walked the trail again. Played a game of hide and seek in the tall grass in the field, then took the truck to "scum falls". An access point to the Iron River. Joe named it that because it is a bit scummy in parts. On our way back to the house, Joe wanted to check out a little side road that also might be an access to the river. Well, when clay gets wet, it is very slippery. We got stuck. So, we pushed the truck back up the hill and headed back home.

All in all, a very fun weekend. :D

New Place Photos
So, I walked around and took pictures of the place along with some photos of the land. I only included one photo of the land here. It's not very easy to get a good view of it... I did include a map of the 40 acres. You can see the yard and the house near the road to the west.
Also, there has been a cat hanging around the house for the last couple weeks. It was definitely owned before because it is very used to people. The people that lived here before said they have no idea whose it could be. We have neighbors half a mile to the north and half a mile to the south and she knows it isn't either of theirs. So, we'll see if we end up with a new kitty.

The new house from the yard. The sun was really bright, so, sorry about the glare.

The living room side. It already looks better than it did in that photo. I got it a bit more organized.

The dining room side. The chairs will not stay there. :)

The bedroom up in the loft.

The field on the northern part of the property.

Curly. The kitty.

A map of our 40 acres. If you click on it, you can see a bigger version.
