Since we got home we have been not only working on the game, but working on getting the Toyota RV ready to go out on a trip. We had a lot of fun on our short adventure that we decided to go out this winter and head south, like some retired folks do. The old RV is set up so nicely for us that we feel a bit sad letting it go, but with the problems we started having, we decided that it is time for that one to be put to bed. Since Joe went through a huge mess to get the Toyota RV, we decided it would be best to use it.
So, Joe started by pulling everything out of the RV that we don't need. This mostly includes the bathroom. This not only lightens the RV some by getting rid of a bunch of that weight, but it also frees up that whole area for storage and a kitty play area. Hopefully we'll be able to get it all put together how we want in the next month.

Hopefully we didn't need any of this....

We got to Grand Teton National Park with a forecast of isolated thunderstorms and showers for the next 2 weeks. It was pretty busy since it was Sat. so we decided to head to the nearby National Forest and find someplace to stay. We found a great place, not too far up the nearby mountain, but we have a great view. Unfortunately, it has been raining and cloudy most of the time.
We're spending Sunday working. The sun did come out, which is very nice. Hopefully it will be decent tomorrow since we plan on doing some hiking.

The campsite. Lucy and Curly out exploring.
A picture of the mountains with the RV. The second pic was taken only a few hours later once the sun fought its way through the clouds. Click on it to make it bigger.
Another view of the mountains we can see from the 'office' window of the RV.

We left the Grassland this morning and are in the Badlands now staying at the campground. The landscape is very neat. There was a nature trail that went through an area with gorgeous cedars. There are very noisy Meadowlarks all around the campground, which is neat, but might get old in the morning.

On my bathroom once we were in the campground, I came about a foot from stepping on a pretty decent sized snake. I just sidestepped it and kept on my way, then regretted not looking at it more closely since I don't even know if it was a rattler or not. It wasn't startled by my presence at all, which I guess was a good thing. We have been watching where we are walking very carefully now.

Well, we have decided to drive Jenny back to Salt Lake City via the RV rather than buying her a plane ticket. We plan to stop in Rochester to visit Rebecca and Andrew and then we'll be heading through South Dakota to see the Badlands. Jenny has to be back by June 4th, so we'll have some time to check things out along the way back and even stop in Colorado to visit Fara again.
So, my job today is to work (as usual) but also to get the RV packed up and clean the house. Woohoo!

Yesterday, Joe, Jenny and I decided to go on a bit of a driving adventure. There is a national forest not far from our place, and we hadn't gone there yet, so we decided to check it out. Well, Joe printed out a little map and even drew some out. Unfortunately, it ended up not being as thorough as we needed. Also, half the roads on these maps were actually ATV trails, and definitely not traversable via car.
So, we took the road we thought went into the national forest. It basically ended, but because we took that road, we saw a Sandhill Crane. Very neat. On our way back out to the highway, we saw some Wild Turkeys. So, I think that detour was definitely a good one. When we got home later and checked out Google maps, we found out that was the road, but it apparently turned into a bit of an ATV trail.
We drove down a number of sandy roads and even went for a nice hike down one road/trail. Didn't see anything else too exciting, but did find a ton of wintergreen, so Joe took some of that home and we had some very good tea.
Some of you heard about my Boston Cream Pie, so I decided I would include pics of that as well.

This is the ugliest Boston Cream Pie ever. It is missing a third of it because we already ate that, but trust me, that other side was worse than this side.
The Sandhill Crane
The Wild Turkeys. They were always running from us. Oh well.
Cute pic of the kitties, cause, come on. They're pretty cute.
