Excitement about Lavabeds
I was looking at a Brochure for the lavabeds (Hundreds of Caves!) And read this one:
Catacombs Cave (6,903 ft/2,104 m)
This very long cave is easily entered but gradually
increases in difficulty. It is possible to walk upright for
approximately 800 ft (244 m) to the stairway, after
which the ceiling rarely exceeds 3 ft (0.9 m). A few
places exist where the ceiling height is less then 12 in
(30 cm). A cave map is highly recommended for any
group planning to explore the entire length, as multiple
levels and numerous side passages can be confusing.
This cave is not recommended for inexperienced
cavers.

Crater Lake
We drove up to Crater Lake yesterday. It was gorgeous. A beautiful day also. We went for a short hike up to the tallest point on the rim and drove around half the rim. We started from the north and were leaving to the south, so instead of driving around one and a half times, we just picked a way that looked more interesting.
On the north side of the lake was a pumice desert. That was neat. Barely any trees and pumice all over. We stopped a bunch of places along the drive and then left the national park by early afternoon. We are now in Klamath Falls where we are staying for a few days to get some serious work done.

Joe picking up a big rock! (yes, it is pumice.. .)

Joe and I in front of Crater Lake.

Joe looking at the lake. I think he got a panoramic with his camera... If it turned out I'll put it on the site.

Wizard Island which is in Crater Lake.

Diamond Lake
Well, we drove quite a bit yesterday and made it to Diamond Lake, which is just north of Crater Lake. We stayed at an RV park because they have internet. Our plan is to head into the park today and see what it's like and whether we have internet there. Then decide if we're just going to spend the day there or a couple days.
This is quite a pretty area. The drive was very nice. We are now at an elevation of about 5000ft and still have to go up to 7000ft to get to Crater Lake.

Florence in the Morning
Well, Joe decided it would be best to get the oil change and check out our issue when we go uphill (sounds like it's going to die, so he has to put it into second and go about 25mph). So, while Joe found an auto guy that looked at the engine I worked on fixing some problems in the game.
Turns out, our going uphill problem was a plugged up fuel filter, so we got that changed. Hopefully that will help us out. We'll find out soon being we're heading back into the mountains today.
Then, Joe decided we should really get the oil changed, so we went to another place not too far away and got the oil changed, our fluids all topped off and even all the zurts greased up. Both of these stops ended up being relatively cheap and the guys were really nice.
Then we stopped and filled up on propane and there was a kayak shop less than a block away. We've been needing kayak paddles for our inflatable boat. All we've had is one canoe paddle. They had some decent, not too expensive, kayak paddles. So we bought two of those.
Yay for a productive morning. :)
We are now on our way to Crater Lake National Park.

Me Surfing
Last Friday (yes these entries are a little out of order) we went surfing before leaving the campground. Since the sun wasn't directly behind us, Joe decided to try and get some video of me surfing. Nothing too exciting.. I was under a bit of pressure. :)
