YAY I didn't have to go to work today! It was too cold. We don't go to work when it's below -10. Pat went up and called at 5:30 saying it was -19. When he called again a few minutes later it was -22. Brrr. It's colder there than in town here too, but when I got up around 9ish the thermometer said -10 and that was in the sun.

Well... the guy worked for two days and he is probably very trainable, but he is even greener than I was coming into it and he's not in shape at all. So, Pat just interviewed someone else tonight. He has a bunch of experience and hopefully will work out.

Well, the guy from last Thurs. called and quit that night... We have a new guy that started today. He has absolutely no experience and is from North Carolina so we'll see how he does. There's another guy coming from Illinois that Pat told he would try out. So we'll see how he does too once he moves to town. Hopefully this new guy sticks around.

Well, as of the day after New Years we've been short a crew member. Joe convinced Pat to let him post an ad online for him and now he's got people calling and asking about the job, so hopefully we'll get someone decent. We tried out a guy on Tuesday and he wasn't going to work, but we tried another guy today. He may work out.

So the delimber broke down again... A hydralic hose that is in the head and goes to the saw in the head was leaking this afternoon. We had to pull that out and call to see if they had a part in. They skidded more trees up while I chipped away at the mud that was thawing on my tracks (another long story). Pat and I left early to make sure the part they had was the right one. It's a good thing we did stop in because they had the wrong size fitting on one side so it woudn't have fit. I'm heading in early with Pat tomorrow to start to get rid of the large pile that is now in front of me.
