Austin, TX
We drove into Austin this morning and headed straight for downtown. There is a huge Whole Foods Market downtown and we wanted to check it out. Let's just say it was really overwhelming. We spent at least 3 hours in there just looking around. They have a huge assortment of foods to get and eat there including the normal salad and hot bar, but also tacos, sandwiches, pizzas, sushi, gilatto, a juice bar, etc. There was an amazing bakery area and sweets area. The produce area was enormous also. Anyway, in the end we decided to just focus on bulk goods and avoided refrigerated things so we wouldn't have to turn on the fridge.

There was also an REI nearby, so we stopped in there looking for a new hat for Joe (since we left it at home) and instead ended up with two small, light chairs. We didn't bring ours with because we never used them. Of course, on this trip, there have already been numerous times we wish we had some. We found just little triangle stools. They're super small and light.

Tonight we are staying in McKinney Falls State Park, which is in the southern part of Austin.

Jekyll Island
We left Hunter Island and headed farther south to Jekyll Island in Georgia. This island is definitely more touristy. You even have to pay a $5 entry fee (they call it a parking fee...) There are bike trails all around the island, so after getting a site we hopped on the bikes. We went around the whole island. After we got back, Joe calculated it and figured we biked about 20 miles. We're staying here another night to do laundry and get some work done. We may bike a bit more... We'll see.

Hunter Island State Park
We decided to keep heading down south a little and check out Hunter Island State Park. It was a longer drive through town than we expected it to be and the park is pretty packed, but I think it was worth it. The mix of trees and the general landscape of the island are amazing. We walked down the beach a ways to see a ton of trees that were dead from having their roots washed out from underneath them. We walked down on the beach and came back on a trail within the forest that consisted of a lot of palm trees, but other trees as well. Also, there are little crabs everywhere and some that are not so little.

Our spot we found in Sumter National Forest.

A creepy, huge daddy longlegs-type spider that was very close to getting in the RV.

Pickles curled up by the pedals. She likes being there when we're not moving.

A view of the "tree graveyard" down the beach.

Me standing on one of many stumps in the ocean. Seeing the roots like that was very neat.

A crab that we startled.

Leaving Tomorrow
We finally have the patches and fixes done in the RV. Of course in the meantime it decided to not only get very cold for fall, but snow too. We are waiting on a package that should come today, then we'll be basically set to go. We're leaving in the morning tomorrow since we'll have to drive quite a bit in order to get someplace where we won't freeze for the night. Once we're on the road, we'll start updating more frequently.

Uggg
So, our hope was to leave very soon. Last night we tested the water in the RV. Half filled the tank and ran water through the faucet. The main goal of this was to see if the lights worked (this RV has a gauge that lights up to show us how much water is in the tank) and to see if it was stinky or gross. Instead of this simple test, we ended up finding leaks everywhere. From the piping coming from the hot water heater (which we're now going to take out since we'll never use it anyway) to the hose hookup outside, to the stupid cheapy faucet.

This RV has been nothing but trouble... Hopefully once this is fixed, that will be the end of it. *crosses fingers*
